US Delays Iran Strikes, Impacting Markets Amid Saudi, UAE Concerns.

President Donald Trump has temporarily postponed a planned military strike against Iran, opting instead to heed requests from key Middle Eastern leaders. Scheduled for Tuesday, the attack was put on hold after Trump received assurances from the rulers of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that negotiations with Iran were underway and that a deal could be reached. In a message shared on Truth Social, Trump stated that he was asked to delay the military action by Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These leaders expressed optimism that a mutually beneficial agreement would soon be achieved, which would satisfy the interests of the United States and the broader Middle East.

The potential deal is expected to include a clause ensuring that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons, a critical demand from the U.S. Despite postponing the attack, Trump has instructed U.S. defense leaders, including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and General Daniel Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to remain ready for a full-scale engagement against Iran should the negotiations falter. Trump emphasized that the military must be prepared to launch an offensive immediately if the diplomatic efforts do not yield an acceptable result.

The decision to delay military action comes amidst reports that Iran, through Pakistani intermediaries, submitted a revised proposal to the United States. However, Washington deemed the changes insufficient for reaching a comprehensive agreement. A senior U.S. official indicated that if Iran does not alter its stance on its nuclear program, the U.S. might be forced to resort to military measures, a development the official described as regrettable.

Despite some modifications in Tehran’s most recent proposal, the U.S. remains unconvinced of its adequacy, perceiving it as a sign of Iran’s apprehension regarding potential American military action. Earlier, Iran presented a 14-point proposal via Pakistan as a basis for talks aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, the U.S. has maintained that the proposal does not go far enough to address its concerns.
