Trump Warns Iran: Deal Now or Face Consequences With No Way Back

by admin477351

President Donald Trump turned up the heat on Iran Thursday with a blunt social media warning, telling Tehran’s negotiators to stop playing games and commit to a peace deal. Trump claimed on Truth Social that Iranian diplomats were privately desperate while publicly pretending to merely review Washington’s proposal. The president’s sharp tone reflects rising frustration as the conflict in the Middle East continues with no end in sight.

The US proposal at the centre of negotiations is a 15-point ceasefire framework addressing some of the most contentious issues in the region. It offers Iran sanctions relief in exchange for rolling back its nuclear programme, curbing its missile capabilities, and keeping the Strait of Hormuz — through which about 20 percent of global oil flows — open to international traffic. Iran officially rejected the plan, though back-channel discussions have reportedly continued.

Iran’s counter-proposal, broadcast on state television, presents a markedly different vision for resolution. Tehran demands that strikes on Iranian officials be halted, that it receive guarantees against future wars, that it be compensated for war-related destruction, and that its claim to sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz be internationally recognised. These terms have been viewed by American officials as a non-starter in their current form.

The toll of the ongoing conflict is felt most acutely on civilian populations. Over 1,500 deaths have been recorded in Iran and nearly 1,100 in Lebanon, with additional casualties in Israel and beyond. Thirteen US service members have been killed, and millions in both Iran and Lebanon have been displaced by the fighting.

Trump’s warning that the situation could soon become irreversible adds new urgency to what has been a fitful diplomatic process. The language of “no turning back” suggests that the United States may be preparing to escalate if Iran does not shift its position. For now, both military action and diplomatic engagement are proceeding simultaneously, leaving the region in a state of dangerous uncertainty.
