The United Arab Emirates and Greece have significantly bolstered their economic relationship through the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum held in Athens. During the event, businesses and institutions from both nations signed 18 memoranda of understanding and agreements, totaling over €12.75 billion. These agreements span a variety of industries, including digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and healthcare, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing economic collaboration.
The forum marked the official visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to Greece and was attended by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, and other senior officials and business representatives. In addition to these agreements, the UAE announced plans for a joint investment initiative, pledging an additional €15 billion to further long-term economic cooperation with Greece, particularly in strategically vital sectors.
Al Zeyoudi highlighted the growing confidence in the UAE-Greece partnership, emphasizing the importance of translating investment commitments into tangible projects, job opportunities, and sustainable economic growth. He noted the complementary nature of the two economies, with the UAE serving as a global hub for trade and investment, and Greece providing a crucial gateway to European markets. This strengthened cooperation aims to facilitate business expansions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
The forum also included discussions on enhancing food security through resilient supply chains and expanding partnerships in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Investment-matching sessions and business-to-business meetings offered platforms for companies to explore joint ventures and establish new commercial ties.
The UAE-Greece Strategic Forum underscores efforts by both nations to deepen economic ties, diversify cooperation, and promote growth through private sector initiatives across priority industries. This collaboration not only seeks to create business opportunities but also to forge stronger commercial links between the two countries.
