The United Arab Emirates has reinstated travel access to Lebanon for its citizens, lifting a temporary ban that was put in place due to concerns over regional security. This change allows Emiratis to visit Lebanon once more after a period of restricted travel.
According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emirati travelers must complete a registration process via the Twajudi emergency assistance service before embarking on their journey. The ministry emphasized that without completing this registration, citizens would be prohibited from leaving through UAE border checkpoints.
The initial travel ban was part of broader restrictions linked to regional tensions, which also impacted travel to other countries. During the ban, Emirati citizens were advised to return home and instructed to contact authorities for necessary support while in Lebanon.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expressed his approval of the UAE’s decision, highlighting that it underscores the robust relationship between the two nations and holds the potential to enhance cooperation and interpersonal connections between their people.
This policy shift follows recent dialogues between leaders of the UAE and Lebanon, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations, bolstering regional stability, and expanding security collaboration. In addition, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun have engaged in discussions aimed at supporting peace initiatives and fortifying the ties between their countries. The decision aligns with recent developments, such as the signing of a framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which regional partners have commended as a step toward peace.
