The UAE’s Urban Search and Rescue team has once again achieved the “heavy” classification, the top international rating from the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), a body affiliated with the United Nations. This marks the third time that the team from the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has secured this elite status, further cementing the UAE’s reputation as a leader in emergency preparedness and disaster response on a global scale.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations to the team, lauding their professionalism, commitment, and readiness to operate. He emphasized the team’s swift response capabilities in the face of natural disasters and humanitarian crises, both domestically and around the world. Sheikh Mohamed noted that this accomplishment is a testament to the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian principles and its growing influence in the field of disaster management.
The recognition ceremony took place at Qasr Al Bahr Palace, where Sheikh Mohamed was joined by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, as well as other high-ranking officials and guests. The event highlighted the significance of the UAE’s commitment to maintaining its high standards in emergency response and global humanitarian efforts.
This latest achievement not only reinforces the UAE’s standing in international disaster management but also reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to uphold humanitarian values. By consistently retaining the highest classification from INSARAG, the UAE Urban Search and Rescue team demonstrates its exceptional capabilities and readiness to assist in crises worldwide.
